Kaua'i 2024 Day 9: Paper Airplanes
07.24.2024 - 07.25.2024 85 °F
We took some pictures in front of the house before leaving for the airport.
Once we arrived at the airport we dropped off our rental car. It was a great car to have on our trip!
We got to the airport and checked in. Our Global Entry/ TSA Precheck was very helpful because there were long lines at regular security. We had some orange juice and coconut manju from one of the shops in the airport before going to the gate. Once we were at the gate and people began lining up to board, an announcement came over the loudspeaker. One of the life rafts in first class was incorrectly stitched, and they had to repair or replace it before we could fly. Catherine was reminded somewhat of the Titanic. It took longer than expected, and the captain came over the loudspeaker to explain the situation. The employees at the gates gathered children who wanted to participate in a contest to make paper airplanes. The kids enlisted Daniel and Ed's help in making their planes. They didn't end up winning the $100 gift card, but they had fun competing.
After about an hour, we got on the plane.
A last glimpse of Kaua'i from the plane.
Daniel looking content-at-best with his Mediterranean Tapas. Catherine looking smug with her Signature Fruit and Cheese Platter.
We arrived in San Jose and got food from Local Kitchens for dinner (we got the Detroit style pizza, and then headed home. We were leaving at midnight, but for us it felt like 9:00 PM.
One of Kaua'i's most famous fictional characters, appearing here at a truck stop in Madera, California.
Back home in Kingsburg with Flora and Aspen! It has been a wonderful trip!
